Since they came out I've always been very curious about the Magnetic Nail Polishes. I think Barry M were the first ones to come out with them but now you can find them across a few drugstore brands (MUA comes to my mind).
So, on a recent trip to Superdrug I stopped by the Barry M section to pick one up. I was instantly drawn to this shade (346 Magnetic Sparkle Red) because the base colour is a metallic grey/purple with red undertones. Also, under artificial light or sunlight you can clearly see pink and burgundy sparkles!
To see the design I took the top off and I placed it next to the clear panel on the polish. By doing this you can immediately see how it will look on the nail. You can then shake it and the polish will go back to normal.
I loved the colour and the design on this one. You get a lovely chevron effect on the nails.
The application was very simple
1- I prepped my nails (filing, buffing and cuticle work)
2- I applied a base
3- I applied the first coat of the Barry M polish and I waited a few minutes
4- I applied the second coat. I wanted a thick coat to get a better effect. Immediately after this second coat I placed the magnet on top of the nail and you are meant to wait just 5 seconds but I waited a bit more (20 seconds).
5- I left it to dry a bit and then I applied my top coat.
One thing I would say is that it's better to work on one nail at a time so that you don't stress with drying times.
I love the effect!
