Review: Illamasqua Cream Foundation - Swatches + Thoughts

Hi ladies,

I am a huge fan of cream foundations. I find them so much easier to work with and I believe they blend better and sit on the skin much nicer.

So, when I had my moment of madness at Illamasqua I just could not resist their Cream Foundations on the sale.

I picked up two. Not entirely sure why. Maybe one for my kit and one for me? Maybe one was a bit more pink and the other a bit more yellow and I'm neutral with a bit of both? Don't ask. :)

The packaging is the typical Illamasqua packaging: black and shinny plastic and it's in the typical Illamasqua shape.

It looks big but you do not get a lot of product- just 8 grams. It comes with a handy big mirror and a square sponge that will be best to use it wet.

The coverage is medium I would say. You can build up but you will start looking cakey.
The finish is kind of satin. Definitely not mat but not glowy either.

I normally apply it with a buffing brush. In this way I manage to pick up just the amount that I need and I can blend wherever I over do it.

The lasting power is quite good but you will need a primer if you have oily skin. I have normal to combination skin and this foundation lasted a good 6 hours on me.

As for the smell It's really funny but these two smell differently. One smells of cake and the other of plasticine.

As for the colour range- you are always safe at Illamasqua. They cater for everyone!

The light colour on the left is CF200. I was actually matched to this colour. My hands are a bit darker than my face at the moment.
The darker colour on the right is CF233. I chose this one for when I get a bit of a tan.

So my final thoughts are that I like this foundation. Not sure this is the best cream foundation (nothing compares to my Colour Clone Hydropack by Helena Rubinstein) but it's a good one nevertheless.

I wish they gave you more product really and I find the packaging a bit deceiving.

It lasts long and I like the finish so yes- this one is a thumbs up for me.

Unfortunately this product is no longer on the sale but you can find it on their regular line here.

hope this review was useful.
