How many foundations does a girl need?

Hi ladies,

I hope you are having a nice chilled out Sunday.

Mine has been good so far. I met up with my friend Bego and we had a lovely lunch at Buasaba in Soho. This is probably THE best Thai food I've ever tasted! Love it. Try it!

We then met with her boyfriend who is actually Ash Mair (yes, THE Master Chef winner 2011!!). I've been friends with them for about 6 years now. Amazing how many people recognised him in the street. I think I counted 3 people asking for an autograph and 7 for a photo with him. All so bizarre but he's enjoying it and he totally deserves it!! I think the best thing of all is that he's still the same guy as usual.

We all then went to Fenwick in New Bond Street because I had to change something at the YSL counter. Yes, they know my addiction for make-up and they laugh about it. I ended up getting a refund because I couldn't think of what to get instead. Nothing really caught my attention. Sad. And then I came back home.

As Sundays are days to reflect, chill out and re-organise your home I decided to shift one thing here and there on my dressing table and I ended up swapping things from one drawer to the other. I came up with a great idea of having a drawer just for my primers, foundations and concealers. This drawer is now one of the main ones on my table so nothing will be forgotten. I can see exactly what I have.

This however made me realise that I have a lot of foundations and made me wonder: Do I need all of these products? Isn't it too much Mercedes? Seriously?! All this stuff will last me for ever.

Have a look.

I decided to put my most expensive ones first because let's face it- I spent quite a bit of money on them so I might as well use them, right? And then I decided to mix and match drugstore, high end together with different formulations. My OCD is not that bad (yet).

I used a white box that was actually a mobile phone box which now stores my foundations that I cannot stand up because the tubes are too long. Underneath that I have most of my concealers.

And you can see my concealers. I have drugstore and high end. I also put some travel size primers and some samples. This is all a work in progress so I might make some adjustments.

So as you can see the third drawer on my dressing table became the "face" drawer. I think this will totally work for me much better!

Now on to the products themselves. I will shame myself and make a list of all the foundations I have.
You might be interested on any of these so feel free to ask me any questions. I'll be more than happy to get back to you with my humble opinion.

I tend to do a lot of research before buying but I have to be honest with you and yes, there were some impulse purchases here!

I will separate this list by 3 categories: I love- I think it's ok- forget it- it's rubbish.
I hope this will help anyone.

To add to the foundation shame I added the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the Illamasqua Skinbase to my collection last week and I can totally say these two go straight into my Love category!

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Let me know which foundations are on your Love category and most importantly I want to know which ones are on your rubbish!

Also, help me answer my question- do we really need all these products? Why do we buy so many?

Wow a lot of foundation you got there!
before I become a quite makeup junkie, I told myself to finish what I had *foundation* before I get a new foundation, but I just can't resist now, and currently my foundation/concealer collection is building up... now I try to figure out when I'll be wearing this or that foundations...

Hi! Is it true that foundations with light reflecting particles are not advisable to wear at night? I only have one foundation which is Revlon's PhotoReady Foundation which is packed with tons of light reflecting particles and Im worried of looking ghostly during my nights out without noticing it :/

@kelly marie : Thank you. It's kind of a life long collection. X

@Lady Makeup!: Thank you! I love the Vicky one too but I just forget to use it. It's fantastic! X

@far-hana: Thank you! If you are after concealers then try the Collection 2000 ones for drugstore or for high-end I would defo recommend the Laura Mercier ones or the Bobbi Brown ones.

@Jenn: Thank you! it's from Laura Ashley. X

@Yu: Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the ones you want to try. X

@Angel: I think a lot of people freak about about the light reflecting foundations and photography rather than day and night. And it depends how it reacts with your skin. Try at home and take a photo and then try another foundation and take another photo using the same settings and you will see the difference. Hope that helps. X

@Beauty on a College budget: I guess this shows I have serious issues, right? :P X
