New Year = New Hair (thanks to a foamy friend)

Hi ladies,

Hope you're all ok.

It was time for a root and colour touch up so I decided to go "crazy" and try a new brand.
I've always used Nice and Easy.
It's affordable and I was always happy with the results.
The only problem with it was the scent which is too strong and chemical to my liking.
Surely that was damaging my hair.

As I was doing my online grocery shopping at Sainsbury's I spotted an amazing deal.
John Frieda Precision Foam Colour at only £3 a pop!
(I believe it retails at £9.99)
I ordered a few.

It was tricky to get the right colour for me as I've never tried this brand before
so I didn't know what to expect in terms of colour rages and potential.

As for quality on the box it clearly says:
"Salon-quality results"

Mmm...let's see.

I went for:
Brilliant Brunette
Light Golden Brown

I wanted to tone down my fiery hair which was turning too orange and artificial.
See my previous post about my hair here.

See the product in action:
My thoughts of the application:

1-It's a foam!
At the beginning I was a bit dubious to be honest.
I thought that the foam would not cover enough and it would be very difficult to know if I was applying the product well and covering all the areas. As it is a foam you cannot feel any weight at all so you are a bit guessing where you are applying it.
However, once your hair starts getting wet with the foam you can feel where you applied it so it's much easier.
The foam is white to start with (it might have a hint of colour) but it will then turn the colour of your choice.

2-The bottle.
This one was a strange but innovative one.
When you mix the two products in the bottle you don't pump but squeeze the bottle!
Yes, you squeeze and the foam comes out. It gets a few attempts to get used to but it's very clever.

Well they claim it's a non-drip formula.
so, I agree it doesn't drip but because the foam is so soft and light you don't realise when you touch things until the foam starts changing colour.
I did get some mess at the back of my neck and at the side but nothing a bit of moisturiser can't tackle.

At first I thought it won't be enough to cover my entire head and long hair
but I didn't finish the bottle!
I think it will give you something like 2lts of foam. Totally enough for one person.

4-Does it cover greys?
I'm ashamed to admit I have some...married life you see!
Can't see none at all now! Brilliant coverage.

It's still a bit "red" but anything I punt on my head turns red.
I think I might have a very strong red undertone in my genes that I'm destined to stick to this colour range.
I love it anyway! results?
Well, my hair has never been as shiny and silky after applying dye so that's good enough for me.
It didn't sell that bad either (much better than Nice and Easy).

Let's see how it wears and if the colour goes after a few washes.

I'll keep you posted.

Have you tried this product?

I got some today, haven't used it yet and I'm pleased to hear that you only needed one box, as I've got really long and thick hair so was worried I wouldn't have enough. Will do a patch test later so I can use this in the next couple of days - jealous of that shine! x

It looks really nice :) If you stick to colours that have 'N - Natural or A - Ash' in the description of the colour you'll have a more flat colour, anything described as 'rich, golden, chocolate' will have more red undertones. xx
