Review: Super Stay 24 hs concealer by Maybelline!

Hi everyone,

I's Monday again and it's kind of raining!!
But cheer up..the next weekend is only 4.5 days away :-)

Back on the subject of beauty and our never ending search for the perfect product...
I think I found something special.

I was waiting so much to get my hands on this concealer and now it's mine.
It is: Super Stay 24hs concealer by Maybelline.

As with a lot of the Drugstore products it has been released in the UK very recently... way later than in America.

And this is what the packaging looks like this:

The American version looks like this:

My background is that for many years I never used concealer.
I was lucky enough not to have massive break outs and I could conceal everything with just a coat of a good full coverage foundation. I never and still don't have dark circles under my eyes.

But sadly things change!
In the last 6 months I've been developing a horrible uneven skin tone due to possible hormonal changes (?), and to the result of years of sun abuse together with some blemishes here and there from now and then.
And this left me with an urge to find a good concealer.

I have a bunch which I use on a rota basis:
-Studio Sculpt by Mac: mmm okish but to thick for me. I find it hard to work with.
-Dermablend Skin concealer by Vichy: I loveeee the texture but I the colour doesn't seem to be the right one.
-Pure Cover Mineral concealer by Maybelline: it's very good but does not last all day.

So, when I saw the Super Stay 24hs at Boots I put it straight away in my little basket.
I was so happy!

This is what the wand and tube looks like:
(My shade is 03 Medium/Beige Fonce)

And a swatch:
(L-R)Direct from the wand and then blended.

And to the all very important before and after photos:
I am only using the concealer here. I haven't applied foundation

What can I say?
I am in love with this concealer.
It gives you a very natural looking coverage. For me this is crucial because when you have a blemish the last thing you want to be worried about is that people will notice that you want to cover up a spot.
Most products will promise this but very few deliver and honestly this one delivers that!

Well, it promises 24hs durability. I'm afraid I haven't tried staying up for 24hs since I was at Uni when we would go to a nightclub and then straight to, I cannot comment on the 24hs claim.
However, I can confirm that this concealer did not move for about 8-9hs. I'm sure it will stay longer but this is as much as I tested it. It works.
FYI: I have normal to combination skin I would say and it feels really nice on my skin.

It's a bit thicker than the rest of the concealers I have (apart from studio Sculpt) but when you blend it it just melts in your skin. It does not feel cakey at all.

Time to set?
It sets fairly quickly so you have to be quick in blending. Once dried it will stay there until you use make up remover.

This concealer blends like a dream!

For me this covers all my blemishes fully and it's totally buildable. So if you need more: apply then leave it to set and then reapply.

Application method?
I use this drugstore brush:

I got it at Boots for £6 or £7 (can't remember exactly)
They sometimes do the 3 for 2 keep an eye!

Would I repurchase?

Would I recommend it?

I hope this post was useful.

Take care.

XXX

@Justine: yep..not sure why they do that..I'm sure the American packaging will appeal us here. The one we got looks so boring. But never mind the packaging...the product is the important bit, right? XXX
