Yeyyy..Friday again! I love Fridays..I bet you do as well.
I have been experimenting all my life with make up storage solutions and I think I now came up with what I would call:
My perfect make up set up!
By no means I'm trying to impress anyone by showing what I've got. There are people out there that have way more make up than me. However, please note that make up is one of my main hobbies at the moment and I'm enjoy it immensity. I worked hard and saved as much as I could (after paying bills and living) to get what I've got today and what you see is the result of years of investment.
No, I'm not that sad...I have other priorities in my life and I entertain myself in many other ways but I love to spend some of my spare time and money on some beauty goodies.
Explanation aside, let's crack on!
Let me introduce you to my little world of pleasures:
My corner of the bedroom (as it is at the moment):
Yep...It's a mess but this is where I come to relax and get pretty when going out.
This dressing table is from Laura Ashley and I managed to get it on a sale for about £300 down from £900!!!
It comes with the mirror attached to the little drawer and with the stool.
I look after it sooo much and I'm very careful when hoovering or cleaning not to chip it.
It doesn't come with the glass top. I added that for extra care....and it's so easy to clean, especially when you are playing with pigments!
So, my storage solutions?
Back in May this year I thought I had the perfect set up for my make up but then I discovered something better...way better.
See my old make up set up post here
I discovered this 9 drawer set from Muji at £59 and there was no looking back!
This is what it looks like:
No, they are not full to the top with make up.
I have loads of extra space for more make up in years to come
The difference between this set up and the old one is that with this one I can actually see what I have when I open the drawers. With the old set up, everything was more compact and tidy but I was always neglecting something because I either couldn't get to it or because I couldn't see it.
Unless I had a mental image of everything I had there was no way it could work for ever.
I still have that storage box I used (you can see on the 1st photo on the left) but I use it for creams, nail polishes, products that disappointed me and in the big drawer I keep my leggings.
As you can also see, there is an extra storage box on the floor on the left which I will be giving away on my next post!
It's brand new and it was never opened!
I bought it thinking I could stacking one on top of the other but then I discovered this Muji set.
I am desperate for space in my room so it has to go!
I'm sure it will get a lot of love from one of you.
Anyway, let's get on with what I have in each drawer:
Top 3 drawers:
1-Face products (from prep to finish)
2-Bronzers (all kinds)
3-Blushes and lip products
Next 3 drawers:
1-Highlighters (all kinds)
2-Colour bases/ paint pots/ cream shadows (all kinds)
3- Eye shadows (drugstore and high end)
Last 3 drawers:
1-More eye shadows
2-Pigments, glitters and disposables
Then onto my dressing table: more storage ideas on the left:
-I use a glass to put my most used mascaras
-2 stacked acrylic boxes (2 drawers each-again from Muji) where I store: Eye liners, shadesticks and similar products, gel eye liners and glitter liners.
More pigments under Petter Rabbit:
These are all from either Gosh or Barry M
This cute Hello Kitty tin box was from the super market. They came with some sweets inside.
And what I have on the right:
Then in the middle drawer of my dressing table I just have what I use on my day to day basis:
The two clear boxes are two taper wares from the pound shop.
And that's it!
I think this set up will remain like this for a while because:
A-I spent quite a bit on all these storage solutions and I don't want to spend any more time or money.
B-I've been using it for about 2 months and it rally works for me.
C-It looks fairly tidy and organised.
D-The very important reason D is because I'm planning to stop buying as much make up as I used to.
I hope you found this post useful and that you could get some ideas for storage solutions from it.
This is what really works for me at this stage and hopefully it will help you somehow: tips, inspiration, ideas, etc.
