Long Wear make up- nothing new here!

Hi everyone,

When I’m bored or when I don’t know what look to go for I have a few books that I go back to in search of inspiration for fashion and make up.

One of them is this brilliant book called: Wartime Scrapbook by Good Housekeeping.
It comprises a collection of newspaper and magazines articles of the time (in this case during WWII).

Some articles are about food and recipes (dried eggs and dumplings-yummy?), others are guides for brides of offshore soldiers (like what to do and say when you are an English lady living in America- hilarious!), how to recycle clothes when you are expecting during war times, how to cope with changing men when they come back from the front line (it says not to ask if they met someone else..or something along those lines), Tampax ads for women in the front line (ever so handy!) and so and so…and there are some make up gems like this one from 1947:

So, as you can see our mums were also in search of the perfect long lasting make up. Even in the middle of the war!

I hope you enjoyed it!

See ya soon.

@ Liloo: I love this book! It has more make up related things which I will be posteing at some point. The other funny stuff is also worth showing. I don't think there is such a thing as "a perfect housewife" I guess we all do what we can with a bit of glamour :-P

@ Vivianna: I know, isn't that funny!
