Don’t we all love a bargain? + DUPE ALERT

Hi everyone,

I was rummaging through my make up collection as I needed to sort out my dressing table from the weekend mess and I found these forgotten beauties: Metallic Sparks Jumbo Pencils by Beauty UK!

Beauty UK products can be found in Superdrug or online and they are super cheap (as we like it) and most of their products are ok! Do not expect high end quality but for the price you pay they are worth it. They also have a very good selection of e/s colours and textures in their ever so popular palettes.

So, what do we have here?
These beauties come in 5 colours: gold, plum (with some black undertone), sagey green, blue and grey. They are super gorgeous and creamy and they have an incredible shimmer (no glitter) without being tacky! The pencils carry a decent amount of product and they have like a big rhinestone at the back so you can spot them easily within your never ending collection.

This is what they look like:

I also managed to find DUPES???!

Pulm colour:

I compared the plum colour with:
Artifact paint pot by MAC
and
Vintage Violet Double wear Shadow crème by Estee Lauder

and here are the results:

Order in the photo: Jumbo pencil, Artifact and Vintage Violet

Colour:
In my opinion and in real life this jumbo pencil looks more similar to Vintage Violet than to Artifact. Artifact is a bit too red to compare it to this pencil really.

Texture:
They are all different. The Jumbo pencil is very creamy and you can definitely build up colour but you need only a little amount and you should apply it very thinly or it will crease. If you set it with a similar e/s it will stay longer! Artifact is creamy at first but dries very quickly. This paint pot will not crease. Vintage Violet is incredibly creamy and it will set put but it gives you a bit more time to work with.

Green colour:

I also compared the green jumbo pencil with:
Precious Jade Double wear Shadow crème by Estee Lauder

And here are the results:

Order in the photo: Jumbo pencil (top and left) and then Precious Jade (bottom and right)

Pretty pretty pretty similar I should say!

Colour:
They are both a sage green with some tiny differences in the shade but once on the lids it shouldn’t look that different!

Texture:
The jumbo pencil is very creamy and you can build up on the colour. But it will crease if you put too much. I would recommend a thin layer and a matching e/s to set.
The shadow crème is very smooth; you can definitely build up the colour and it will set with no need on an e/s on top.

Blue colour:
And the last one I compared was the blue on with the
Blue Velvet Double wear Shadow crème by Estee Lauder

And here are the results:

Order in the photo: Jumbo pencil left and Blue Velvet right

A tiny difference but very similar.

Colour:
I find the jumbo pencil to be prettier than the shadow crème! But this is my opinion obviously. The shadow crème is more flat and has very tiny sparkles whereas the jumbo pencil has a gorgeous shimmer that will definitely show on your eyelids.

Texture:
The jumbo pencil is very creamy and you can build up on the colour. But it will crease if you put too much. I would recommend a thin layer and a matching e/s to set.
The shadow crème is very smooth; you can definitely build up the colour and it will set with no need on an e/s on top.

Verdict:
I personally love these jumbo pencils. I think they are a great product and they can be used as eye shadow bases and as liners! I love all the colours that’s why I had to have them all and they only retail at about £3 or less so not a big deal there!
You can use them straight from the pencil or you can use your fingers or even brushes!
As they are very creamy they need a bit of extra care and a bit of a light hand as they will crease but if you know what you are doing then you will enjoy them as much I enjoy them

Would I repurchase?
Ohh yes!

I love the jumbo pencils! Unbelievably cheap for the pigmentation you get, but you are right about applying them carefully or else they crease. I especially like the golden one, I like to apply it on my bottom lid (carefully because else I get shimmer everywhere) for a refreshing look when it's sunny outside =) x

Michelle
http://2lipsticks.blogspot.com

@Liloo: Thanks for poping by and I'm glad you liked it. Hope you come back :-)

@Michelle: I agree..the shimmer can travel! I think my favourite one is the blue. I guess it makes my eye colour pop a bit more than the others.

XXX
Mercedes
